You will enable Shopify&#x2019;s cookie banner, turn on the Cookease app embed in your theme, add your Google Analytics ID in Cookease Settings, create a Shopify custom pixel, and update the cookie banner text with your Google Privacy Policy link.<hr>INFOThis guide uses the same labels you will see in Shopify and Cookease, including Customer privacy, App Embeds, Cookease Settings, and Add custom pixel.<hr><h2 id="before-you-start">Before you start</h2><ul><li>Make sure Cookease is installed in your Shopify admin.</li><li>Make sure the Google &amp; YouTube app is already connected and your Google Analytics setup is working.</li><li>Have your Google Analytics ID ready before you begin.</li></ul><hr>WARNINGIf Cookease is not enabled in your current published theme, the cookie banner may not appear on your storefront even if the app is installed.<hr><h2 id="step-1-enable-shopifys-cookie-banner">Step 1: Enable Shopify&#x2019;s cookie banner</h2>Cookease works alongside Shopify&#x2019;s customer privacy controls, so the first step is to make sure Shopify&#x2019;s banner is turned on.1. Open Customer Privacy Settings -&#xA0;In Shopify admin, open Settings &gt; Customer privacy.2. Turn on the Cookie banner -&#xA0;Find Cookie banner and enable it.3. Save your changes -&#xA0;Click Save to apply your changes.<hr>NOTEAfter saving, Shopify can begin showing your cookie consent banner based on your customer privacy settings and visitor location.<hr><h2 id="step-2-enable-cookease-in-your-theme">Step 2: Enable Cookease in your theme</h2>Cookease must be turned on in your active Shopify theme before its banner settings and consent behavior will appear on your storefront.1. Open Cookease from Shopify admin -&#xA0;In Shopify admin, go to Apps &gt; Cookease.2. Open the theme setup area -&#xA0;Select Enable Cookease in your theme. Use the theme editor button shown there to open the Shopify Theme Editor.3. Open app embeds -&#xA0;In the left-hand sidebar of the Theme Editor, click the App Embeds icon.4. Turn on Cookease -&#xA0;Select Cookease and switch the toggle to On.5. Save the theme -&#xA0;Click Save.<hr>TIPIf you later need to adjust banner behavior, this same App Embeds area is where Cookease theme settings appear. For example, the existing Cookease setting Decline All Button controls whether shoppers see a Decline button alongside Manage preferences and Accept.<hr><h2 id="step-3-add-your-google-analytics-id">Step 3: Add your Google Analytics ID</h2>Cookease includes a Cookease Settings page where you can store your Google Analytics ID.1. Confirm Google is already connected -&#xA0;Before adding the ID in Cookease, make sure Google Analytics is properly integrated through Shopify&#x2019;s Google &amp; YouTube app.2. Open Cookease settings -&#xA0;From Shopify admin, open Apps &gt; Cookease, then open Cookease Settings.3. Enter your Google Analytics ID -&#xA0;Find the Google Analytics ID field and enter your ID exactly as provided in Google Analytics.4. Save -&#xA0;Click Save.<hr>NOTEIf your Google Analytics setup is incomplete in the Google &amp; YouTube app, adding the ID in Cookease alone will not finish the connection.<hr><h2 id="step-4-add-the-cookease-custom-pixel-in-shopify">Step 4: Add the Cookease custom pixel in Shopify</h2>Shopify&#x2019;s Customer events area is where you add the custom pixel required for Cookease.1. Open Customer events -&#xA0;In Shopify admin, go to Settings &gt; Customer events.2. Create a new custom pixel -&#xA0;Click Add custom pixel.3. Name the pixel -&#xA0;Enter a name for the pixel, then click Add pixel.4. Set the Permission option -&#xA0;In Permission, select Not required.5. Set the Data Sale option -&#xA0;In Data sale, select Data collected does not qualify as data sale.6. Paste the Cookease code -&#xA0;Use the Copy Code button provided in Cookease, then paste that code into Shopify&#x2019;s Code field.7. Save and connect -&#xA0;Click Save at the top of the page, then click Connect.<hr>WARNINGDo not change the copied pixel code before pasting it into Shopify. Even small edits can stop the custom pixel from working correctly.<hr><h2 id="step-5-add-the-google-privacy-policy-link-to-the-cookie-banner">Step 5: Add the Google Privacy Policy link to the cookie banner</h2>After the banner is enabled, update the cookie preferences text in Shopify so it includes your Google Privacy Policy wording.1. Open Customer privacy settings -&#xA0;In Shopify admin, go to Settings &gt; Customer privacy.2. Edit the cookie banner -&#xA0;Click Cookie banner to open its settings.3. Switch to manual editing -&#xA0;Uncheck Use automated settings.4. Edit the content -&#xA0;Next to content, click Edit.5. Replace the cookie preferences body text -&#xA0;Use the Copy Text content provided by Cookease and paste it into the Body field for Cookie preferences, replacing the existing text.6. Save your changes -&#xA0;Click Save.<h2 id="check-that-setup-is-working">Check that setup is working</h2>After completing the steps above, test the storefront in a private or incognito browser window.<ul><li>You should see the Shopify/Cookease cookie banner.</li><li>The banner should include Manage preferences and Accept.</li><li>If enabled in Cookease theme settings, it may also show Decline.</li></ul><hr>TIPIf you do not see the banner right away, refresh the storefront and test again in a private/incognito window. This helps avoid old consent data affecting your test.<hr><h2 id="what-to-check-if-the-banner-does-not-appear">What to check if the banner does not appear</h2><ul><li>Make sure Cookie banner is enabled in Settings &gt; Customer privacy.</li><li>Make sure Cookease is turned On in Theme Editor &gt; App Embeds.</li><li>Make sure you saved changes in both Shopify settings and the Theme Editor.</li><li>Make sure you are testing the currently published theme.</li></ul><h2 id="related-setup-notes">Related setup notes</h2>Q.
